The compactness of the building is meant to contain thermal losses. Both the geriatric wards have rooms facing east or west.
The rhythm of the structure in the rooms levels is incompatible with the parking lot in the basement. From this consideration, the elevations show a double shape, as if there were two overlapping buildings.
The “cell” design leads to an elevation with deep shadows, that divide and reduce the continuity of the long walls. The existing row of trees, marking the road, mitigates the impact of the great volume.
