The existing school is a great quality testimony of architecture in Canton Ticino in the 50s and the 60s.
The new school includes two separate volumes, connected in the basement. The aim is to create a large open space, even though it’s divided in two by a small road.
The classrooms face south, such as in the existing school. The gym is the background towards eastern public space and hides existing recent construction. A pedestrian tunnel under the ground links the two areas leading to the access of the gym reserved to the students.
